Balloon Popping

It was by accident, though. See, I have a fear of popping balloons and inflatables, and while it hasn't kept me from enjoying inflatables, it has made me keep my distance from balloons for years. I'm trying to get over my fear of balloons popping, so I bought a bag of balloons. My plan was to start slow by blowing one up (inflating it I mean). Then I would work on being around and playing with a balloon until I'm able to handle balloons without being terrified that they'll pop if I touch them. Do you guys see where I'm going with this? I was going to slowly work my up to popping a balloon. Conquer the fear, you know? Yeah... things didn't work out that way. ^^; Yeah, I was blowing up a balloon using a balloon pump, and when I stopped inflating it, I just looked at it... and it popped. I seriously wasn't prepared for that. O_O I'd inflated and deflated that balloon like three times, and each time it looked bigger deflated. So I think what happened was the material either stretched or just wore down after getting inflated multiple times. I'm not too experienced with balloons, so I don't know what makes them pop besides the usual stuff (overinflating and sharp objects), so I dunno what happened. I just know it popped and it was loud XD.

Yeah, back to square one, I guess. :/

P.S.: I'm not a popper. I'm doing this because I'm trying to get over a fear that I've had since I was little. That's all. I don't want to be scared to so much as touch a balloon forever.

Just to clarify something, I've never popped one of my inflatables on purpose. I have had some inflatables pop before, but it's always because I either got carried away while playing with them, the seams got worn down after one too many rides, or because I accidentally overinflated.

This is a good way to get around such a fear. :3

been a long time since I've posted, but yes, constant inflating and deflating does wear down the balloons material, making them thinner and more vulnerable to popping without much effort. Blowing it up big while it was already stretched was too much of a strain.
