Fungi are the eukaryotic, achlorophyllous, and unicellular or multicellular organisms, which may reproduce by asexual and sexual spores. 1. All are eukaryotic - Possess membrane-bound nuclei (containing chromosomes) and a range of membrane-bound cytoplasmic organelles (e.g. mitochondria, vacuoles, endoplasmic reticulum). S., CHAPTER- 2, FUNGI, Biologists used the term fungus (pl. Fungi; in latin fungus, sphongos = sponge) to include eukaryotic, spore producing, achlorophyllus organisms that, generally reproduce asexually and sexuallý. Their vegetative structure is usually the, branched, filamentous hyphae having cell wall made up of chitin or cellulose or both Fungi are eukaryotic microorganisms. They can occur as yeasts, molds, or as a combination of both forms. Some fungi are capable of causing superficial, cutaneous, subcutaneous, systemic or allergic diseases. Yeasts are microscopic fungi consisting of solitary cells that reproduce by budding. Molds, in contrast, occur in long filaments known as Fungi are split between acting as parasites, which prey on insects, plants, and animals, and saprophytes, which primarily aid in the breakdown of dead organic material. Fungi can also live in symbiotic relationships with other organisms. Lichens are the result of a symbiotic relationship between a fungus and a photosynthesizing organism. Fungi are eukaryotic (e.g., contain a nucleus) organisms, most of which grow as yeasts or as characteristic elongated cells called hyphae (Figure 1a, b). Yeasts are a unicellular growth form with a spherical to ovoid shape. They may be either colorless or pigmented and primarily grow in nutrient-rich and humid environments. Fungi are eukaryotic organisms means they have true nucleus which are enclosed in membranes. They are non-vascular organisms. They do not have vascular system. Xylem and Phloem are absent. Fungi have cell walls (plants also have cell walls, but animals have no cell walls). There is no embryonic stage for fungi. They reproduce by means of spores. Therefore mycology is the study of fungi. The ability of fungi to invade plant and animal tissue was observed in early 19th century but the first documented animal infection by any fungus was made by Bassi, who in 1835 studied the muscardine disease of silkworm and Terms: Mycology -branch of biology, concerned with the study of fungi Mycotoxicology- The study of fungal toxins Mycoses- The diseases caused by fungi in animals.(s., mycosis) Phaehyphomycosis- Infection caused by pigmented (dematiaceous) fungi Mycetoma-Tumour-like granulomatous lesions caused by saprophytic fungiPseudomycetoma- Tumour-like granulomatous lesions, associated with dermatophytes Fungi are euk

I mostly plan to put some nice comments on photos and profiles here-and-there, aswell as posting a few rare…
