The Start & Improve Your Business (SIYB) programme is a management-training programme with a focus on starting and improving small businesses as a strategy for creating more and better employment in developing economies and economies in transition. This manual is based on the materials originally developed in 1996 by the ILO SIYB Regional Project Office in Harare, Zimbabwe. The authors of the original version are Geoffrey Meredith, Douglas Stevenson, Hakan Jarskog, Barbara Murray and Ulf Kallstig. ILO's support consists of improving the skills of eco-entrepreneurs who are beneficiaries of PACEV. The objective is to reinforce their capacities in creation and management of companies oriented towards the protection of the environment. In this support, the ILO is using the GERME Network. SYB is a materials-based training programme for emerging entrepreneurs with a business idea who want to proceed and start their own business. This very interactive training can be organized flexibly according to clients' needs, takes approximately five days and is taught using advanced participatory adult training methodologies.
